PanGu 7.1.x now has an update for its untethered jailbeak on Cydia. For those users who jailbroke their iOS device using PanGu, Version 0.3 comes in a package update form in one of Cydia’s default repos, the Cydia/Telesphoreo repo. The description of the update says that Version 0.3 provides small improvements to the untethered jailbreak. Basically it’s designed to repair sandboxing issues.
Any user seeing this update in Cydia should update the package, regardless of what iOS version or device they’re using, however some users have reported that updating PanGu to Version 0.3 can cause certain problems.
Some users noted that upgrading the package kept putting their device into Safe Mode. It seems that the issue is being caused by some tweaks. A user on Reddit reported that the problem was fixed by removing the GestureMusicControls tweak. Yet another user said that Calculator and Safari crash on start. For me, however, I’ve had no issues at all and my iPhone 5s has been upgraded running 7.1.2.
It does seem that this update has been a bit of a hit-or-miss affair, but I’m not sure if the issues involved should be blamed on the tweaks users have installed on their devices, or to PanGu itself. Maybe, for the time being anyway, it might be safer to just sit and wait if you’re not entirely sure what to do. We’re bound to see another update very soon in Cydia, particularly if there really are problems being caused by PanGu 7.1.x untethered 0.3.
