When someone is asking me to take a look at their computer because there might be a virus or some malware (and most of the times there is), usually a YouTube video download App or browser extension is involved. I find that this is happening even more often than game crack infections to computers. I see that people don’t know that there’s an easy solution to download YouTube videos without having any type of App or extension installed.
Before we start, I want to point out a few things. I know that for various reasons everybody wants to be able to download their preferred YouTube videos but please keep in mind that YouTube videos are protected by copyright as well like any other creative content! Please to not download YouTube videos and use them in a wrong way (redistribution without rights, etc). We condemn this type of actions and 100% not agree with such practices.
If you just looking for a solution to watch your preferred YouTubers offline when traveling with a plain, or be in situations where you don’t have internet connection, YouTube Red may be a solution for you. And this is the only official solution to download a YouTube video. But if you reside in a country where YouTube Red is not available, follow along to see how simple is to download any type of video from YouTube.
Easiest way to download YouTube videos
By far the easiest way, without any kind of App installed, is just to type “magic” (without quotes) between you and tube in your browser when playing a video on YouTube. And the magic happens! Note that this is available in a browser only. You can do it on any type of computer, Windows or Mac, and even Android. iOS will not let you save the video from the browser.
To be more specific, here’s an example:
Let’s say we want to download the Chrome OS presentation video from YouTube.
The link is:
our link will become:
Notice the MAGIC between you and tube.
Now our video is ready to be downloaded. There are various video formats to chose from (MP4, WEB, 3GP) and it can also be downloaded as an MP3 file.
That’s it. You can now enjoy your favorite YouTube videos offline!
